Oil on Canvas
Using what I was learning about glazing, I applied that to an oil painting. I love the way it picks up the light and gives the canvas a bit of “glow.” My little kolancho plant gives me hours of inspiration. I never knew of another plant that shows the intelligence of the universe so clearly.
While working on this piece, I often thought of my first husband who was a “morning person” – that is to say, 5 a.m., eyes popped open, zero to sixty in less than five seconds. Me, on the other hand, I may start to reach consciousness about mid-morning and only after a few cups of coffee.

Beautiful painting. You brought it to class once. Since white is opaque, how did you get it to shine so brilliantly?
Most oil paints dry somewhat muted and matt. You can mix glazes into your paint or add glazes on top of paint or varnish with a clear oil varnish after the painting has dried. I did the last one.
