Morgana
Fabric and Thread
12.5″ x 17″
Morgana was my old cat who died a few years ago. She was the sweetest, softest, funniest animal I ever had the pleasure to live with. Her face was like a map of the world and, she was the best napping buddy of all.
It is made of fabric, batting and thread. I sketch out the object on white muslin, then layering fabric, I block in the main color areas. Then the fun begins — a few hours of thread painting to bring out all the details. I love the slow and gentle way this artwork comes into being. And it has a lot of texture and softness.
Fiber art has a softness and a texture that is always changing with the light and it’s a nearly non-toxic piece of art which I love.

Cherry,
I LOVE Morgana! You have captured her unique expression, right down to the whiskers.

I love cats. I have nine, and four of them are calico like Morgan. The quilt is beautiful.
Thanks. This was an unfinished project from 2015 that I was finally able to finish. I loved her so much. She died a couple years ago now but she was the prettiest calico I ever saw. Her face was like a map.
