Faux Painted Floors – House Exterior

FrontPorchThe front porch looked bad, pockmarked and rust stained. I took inspiration from my favorite Korean restaurant where someone creative had painted the front concrete walkway to look like stones. It was easier and quicker than I thought to create a reasonable semblance of big river rock, first using charcoal to outline the stones–heavier on one side, then sponging on three colors of a light, medium and dark neutral. To seal it, I used Behr Exterior Flat Deep  Base with no tint. As far as I know this is the only paint that truly has no tint. It is the deep base used for making very dark colors like eggplant. Use other brands with care as they almost always have a little white pigment and will ruin your project. Also be careful about using a varnish as concrete becomes very slippery when wet. The Behr Deep Base Flat has a little “tooth” to help with that.
